General Special Election

Election Day Mar. 14

This General Special Election will be a first of its kind because we have a single candidate on the ballot, Justin Pearson, who won the Primary Special Election by a landslide. Since only Democrats ran in the primary, that election determined the race. Justin Pearson has already been installed as Tennessee Representative of District 86.

State law still requires that the General Special Election for the Tennessee House District 86 be held on March 14, even with only one candidate on the ballot. Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. On Election Day, you must vote at your assigned precinct location, so be sure to click here so you can know before you go on Election Day. Here’s a list of Election Day  precincts and polling locations.

About 45,000 registered voters live in District 86, which cuts a broad swath across the county, encompassing much of northern Shelby County, including Millington, Frayser, North Memphis, Downtown and southwest Memphis.
