The county primaries are behind us and the election results were certified on May 15th.  After that, we began working to put things in order in anticipation of the August County General and State Primary Elections. The military and overseas ballots went out on June 18th. As I said in the last newsletter, that’s the official beginning of the election cycle. In this issue, you will see more about what is involved in preparing for the polls to open. It involves a lot more than most people realize.
The center section of this newsletter is dedicated to the August 2nd ballot. On Page 2, you’ll find the ballot of the County General portion of the upcoming election.
On Page 3, the candidates for the State and Federal Primary election are listed. You can download this newsletter as a PDF and print it from your computer. We hope you’ll use it as a guide so, you can make your selections before you head to the polling place. Feel free to bring it with you.
And remember the convenience of early voting. You may vote at any location that is open. A complete list of Early Voting locations is available at www.shelbyvote.com.  On Election Day, August 2nd, you must vote at the polling place assigned to the address at which you are registered.
We want to make it easy and convenient for you to vote.  As an American, it’s your privilege, your right and your duty to help decide who will govern us.
